Are you the area's best putter? Help put Brainerd on the map by winning the inaugural Hott Shott National Championships on Dec. 14. There will be a satellite tournament at Lum Park so you can play locally! Cost is only $5. (You only need to pay ahead of time if you want to secure a start time.)
Test your disc golf skills in this nationwide putting competition. You get 50 shots total. Each half (or "inning") there are 25 shots, five each at lengths of 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 feet.

All Hott Shott performances will be taped by Nate Phillipps of narcherFILMS and uploaded to YouTube for them to count in the national competition -- so wear something festive!
What is Hott Shott?
Hott Shott is a court game that requires concentration and practice. It can be played by all ages, indoors or outdoors, individually or as a team. Hott Shott uses a unique "frisbee type" disc tossed into catching target. A series of shots (tosses) are made from five different stations at the catching target. Each station is 5 feet in distance from the previous station, starting with Red at five feet from the target.
Where is Hott Shott played?
o Hott Shott is a portable and versatile game that can be played almost anywhere: beach trips, family reunions, neighborhood play, school recess, church or scout outings, senior citizen rec rooms, you name it!
Who plays Hott Shott?
o Ages 8 to 80 - Fun for all, both young and old.
o Individuals and teams
How do you play?
o Begin at the 5 point station and throw each disc at the target one at a time. Continue through each station until all 25 discs have been thrown to complete the first inning of the round. A round is the total of two innings.
How do you score?
o Record the number of discs in the target of each color and multiply that number by each color value.
o Making all discs of any color results in a bonus equal to the value of that color’s disc.
o Making all 25 discs results in a perfect inning bonus of 50 points.
o A perfect inning score, consisting of all 25 discs, all color bonuses, and the inning bonus, is 525 points.
o Add the two inning scores to determine the round score.
o A perfect round of 1,050 points would be making all 25 discs in both innings.
