About this tournament

The Cedar Farms Disc Golf Club and the 717 Flying Disc Golf Club bring matchplay to Maryland.

TEAMS: Five person teams for which the sum of their player ratings is capped at 4600 (that is an average of 920). Ratings for non-PDGA members can be estimated, subject to approval. More details about team composition below.

ENTRY FEE: $125 / team
FORMAT: Straight Match Play

Every person plays at least four nine hole matches. Those from half of the teams will play at least five matches and those from the top two teams will play six.

Lunch and dinner (during and after last matches) provided!

$800 towards food will be taken from entry fees. $1200 to payout plus anything left over from food expenses.

Registration Deadline: July 11, 2024
Field is limited to 16 teams.

A team guarantees a slot by paying the $125 entry fee. Registering a team fixes the ratings for that team, so if players' ratings change, you don't need to worry about rearranging the team.

Field size will be limited to groups of four teams.
If only 4, 5, 6, or 7 teams register (cash paid), only the first 4 are in, etc.
The field size will be 4, 8, 12, or 16 teams.

Register teams here. Post questions here or email [email redacted].

Team Composition Rules

1) Team rating cap 4600

2) Teams can be registered by a captain (who need not be the highest rated player)
2a) Captains: Register yourself with a C in front of your name and get your team players to sign up as early as possible.
2b) Players may then register themselves to their team.
2a) For current PDGA members, these ratings are the players' current PDGA rating.
2c) Players who are not current but former PDGA members can use their last rating when they were active. If you go to the PDGA player search and search for all players in the last state a player was current was in and sort the players by rating, even though the rating for a non-current player does not show, their rating can be inferred from current members above and below them on the list.
2d) We can estimate ratings for players with no PDGA activity but who have participated in enough competitive events to make a reasonable estimate.
Captain: For anyone that does not have a PDGA rating please use the "Notes" section to include a justification for their estimated rating, if possible including performance in all recent tournaments they participated in. Tournament organizers will refine estimates.
2e) Registration is complete when five players have registered up with ratings. However, a slot for the team to play is not complete the full $125 is received for the team.

3) Teams can be set based on ratings at time of registration. This way teams would not have to worry about having to change the team if someones rating goes up between now and the tournament. If a team changes its members, then the ratings of ALL team members at the time of the change are used for recomputing the team total relative to the cap.

4) There are minimum ratings for cap purposes. Rated men count at least 800, unrated men count at least 850, rated women count at least 700, and unrated women count at least 750.

5) Players are slotted in order of their ratings, the highest rated player in the 1 slot, etc.

6) The ratings cap has some flexibility in the following two ways.
6a) If a team is over the cap, they can reduce their ratings points to get under it by "buying" penalty strokes, 1 stroke per 10 ratings points. The team must decide how to allocate the penalty strokes among team members by registration. The player that has been assigned a penalty stroke will have that penalty assessed on the first hole of every match they play. The team captain should inform the organizers which players will get the penalties. If we are not told, we will arbitrarily and capriciously decide. They have to be balanced - no team member may have more than one more penalty stroke than any other team member and penalty strokes cannot move someone's rating below 850 (at 10 points per stroke).
6b) If a team is under the cap, they can add ratings points to any team member(s) to reorder players, provided they stay under the cap.

7) Team entry fee $125

8) Payment of fee guarantees a slot subject to the rule of four. The tournament will proceed with either 4, 8, 12, or 16 teams. Spots are awarded in the order full payment is received.
