About this tournament

We’re excited to host another fundraiser event this year to benefit the BHMO and Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. This year’s event will follow a more traditional 2-round tournament format as compared to last year’s event. However, the field will be limited to 24 players so don’t wait to sign up.

We will be offering lunch between rounds. There are also many other lunch options in the area for those interested. The lunch will be free, but we will be collecting donations with 100% of them going to benefit the BHMO and Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The Format:

This year, we are going with a more traditional 2-round tournament format. Each round will consist of 18 holes. The event will be unsanctioned, and there will be 2 divisions (paying tribute to the earliest tournaments of the sport). The “Pro division” will be for players rated above 915 and those looking for a more challenging field. The “Am division” is for those rated below 915. While we are not going to verify the rating of any player competing in the “Am Division,” the tournament staff has discretion to move anyone into the Pro division. The entry fee for both divisions will be $50 and the same course layout will be played by both divisions at the same time.

First round groups will be randomly assigned. There will be a shuffle between rounds with second round groups determined by first round scores.

The Payout:

As indicated, the event fee for both divisions will be $50. We will be paying out cash to the top 40% of each division after the second round.

Because this is a fundraiser event, $25 from each entry fee will be going to the BHMO and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The remaining $25 of each player’s entry fee will go to the cash payout for each division. I am hoping to get a little bit of added cash for the event this year. If successful, 50% of all money raised prior to the event will go to the BHMO and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society with the remaining 50% being added to the payout. Any added cash will be proportionally split between the 2 divisions based on the number players in each.

As with all of the events that we have held, and thanks to the continued generosity of Steve Penland and Gaige McNutt among other, there will be multiple CTPs for discs each round.

The Course:

As many of you know, this event is being held on a private course at my home. The course is continually evolving so that it, hopefully, never becomes stale.

The layout for the course this year will be longer and more challenging than the 10-hole layout played during last year's BHMO fundraiser event. This year we plan on playing a 9-hole layout with most holes having a distance between 250ft and 375ft, so long as the weather cooperates. I have a backup plan in the event the Blacklick Creek is flowing too high, but I do not anticipate that being the case in June. The 9-hole layout has several brand-new holes designed to challenge players of all skill levels. There will be a new raised basket, in addition to the hanging basket from last year, and the Blacklick Creek will come into play on at least three holes.

This is a unique course for the Central Ohio area, and I hope everyone considers coming out to play for a good cause.
