About this tournament

Find some friends and stack your squad for the Diameter Cultivates Team Play tournament at Haute Goat. As a counter to the Diameter Open the week before, we are offering this weekend for some fierce and fun team play action.

This is also the weekend of the Cultivate Music Festival at Haute Goat. Like last year your entry includes a weekend pass to the festival.

WHAT IS CULTIVATE FESTIVAL?
'It's like a big picnic. A music festival. A block party. A playground for all ages. An arts experience... A reason to get out and have a great time surrounded by great people. Cultivate is The Feel Good Festival.'
The heart of Cultivate is the music and the food, last year we had two stages and a ton of local food vendors, and of course the local breweries, cider houses and other purveyors of things to eat and drink.

Last years line-up was awesome and the weather was perfect!

This is meant to be a seriously fun weekend of disc golf...great competition but no PDGA sanctioning...teams battling it out but supporting everyone...music playing and discs flying. The course at Haute Goat is licensed, so we may have the mule out and selling refreshments.

Team Play - We are adapting some aspects of the College Disc Golf Team Play event that Innova hosts every year, and a good chunk of the fun that the women enjoy at the Women's Throw Pink Team Event hosted at North Cove.

As of now we are still deciding on whether to offer one or two divisions. Either way there will be a ratings cap to encourage fair play and encourage the fun/amateur focused intent - it might look something like:

One division would have a total rating cap of say 3500 or a two division event might be:

Goats have a combined rating greater than 3500.
Sheep have a combined rating below 3400.

Ratings will be based on your rating at time of registration, inspiration to improve all summer. If you don't have a rating, no problem...reach out or sign up and we'll make sure you aren't sandbagging in the wrong division. The goal is to create some good competition for those that care, and good fun for those just looking to have fun.

Diameter Apparel will be making team jerseys for everyone. When you register you get to choose a colour, once taken, it's gone, so sign up early.

Mixed teams are encouraged but not required. The 3500 and below division is going to be fun, and I hope it attracts a lot of newer players looking to compete.

The format of the tournament will be roughly as follows, to be adjusted based on registration.

Day 1: 9 hole match play rounds, each player will play three or four matches. Keep in mind match play goes fast and you may not need to play all nine holes. Matches will include best disc doubles, alternate shot doubles, combined score doubles and singles match play.

Day 2: Team Doubles - 1 round of 18 holes - What is Team Doubles Play?

Doubles is played with two sets of teammates, one ODD, one EVEN. The ODD set will tee off on every odd-numbered hole, while the EVEN set tees off on every even-numbered hole. After the tee shots, the team chooses which of the two lies to play. From there, the set that did not tee throws their two shots. Again, the whole team decides which lie to play from and the set that teed off would throw. That alternating process continues until the hole is complete. On the next hole, the corresponding set of teammates according to the hole number, ODD or EVEN, would tee off no matter which set putted out on the previous hole. This format allows for each player to tee off the same amount of times and for teams to play as a whole. Each hole has two teams playing together as an eight-some.

Lots more details to finalize but you get the point. Ask around about how fun last year's Colours of Cultivate Festival was, you don't want to miss this. The music will be drifting over the hills as your teammates encourage you to make a shot.

Plan for this to be a family event too, the festival is free to kids under 18 and extra tickets can be purchased for those coming with you that don't play disc golf.
