About this tournament
The 20th annual Southside Smackdown will be held on April 20, 2024. Two rounds of 20 holes on both courses. The courses being used are Municipal (Langan) Park and the University of South Alabama. We’ll have check in beginning around 7:00 with a short meeting at 8:30 with the first round starting at 9:00. Everyone will have an hour to eat lunch before starting their second round.
Beginning in the morning, you’ll have some food to grab. Sugar Rush Donuts, apples, bananas, and oranges. For lunch expect many choices (hamburgers, hotdogs, pulled pork, boudin, Conecuh dogs, Godfather’s Pizza, etc) to choose from with sides, desserts, and can drinks also available. After the second round, get ready for more fresh food coming from the grill and Godfather’s Pizza. All for the price of $0.00.
Every registered player gets a shirt and snacks. All amateur divisions will also receive a players pack with a premium tournament stamped disc of their choice. Player pack value will exceed $50.
Top 40% in pros and top 45% in amateur divisions get a payout.
Pool A will consist of all pro divisions, MA1, and MA40
Pool B everyone else
Pool A plays USA first and Municipal second
Pool B plays Municipal first and USA second
The plan is for MA4, Juniors, and the amateur women’s divisions playing short tees. Not all holes will have a short tee at USA (a list of the holes is coming soon).
Extras include: free raffles, CTP’s, ring of fire, mini disc golf, skittles, regular raffles with some rare discs, and a 100+ foot ring of fire for a prize valued at $100
$3,000 minimum added cash spread through all pro divisions. With 60 pro spots, that’s at least $50 added per player.
Over 100% payout (and it’s not close) in all divisions.
Last year we spent $1,800 on belts and I hope it can stay around that area.
With everything added, it’s imperative that we have strong support from our sponsors. From cash to food and other merchandise it is essential for success. Please consider being a sponsor this year.
