Warman League 2024
About this tournament
Hey everyone, we are excited to have you join us for the Warman disc golf league's 2024 season. Our goals are to develop a community in Warman around the sport of disc golf, improve on our skills and have some fun. Whether you are a competitive or casual player we hope this year's League has something to offer all players!
A couple things to note before the first league night. We will meet at the course prior to 6:00pm on Mondays. We would like to tee off close to that time so if you would like to warm up and do some putting please come early. We will divide ourselves into groups from there. I know a lot of our league is made up of families and couples and we certainly won't force anyone to break up those connections for league play but we will definitely encourage you to try and play with different people throughout the year. It is great for making new connections and even learning from different players. We strongly believe it enhances the league experience! There is also a flex start option where you can start your round between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. We just want to remind you that if this is what works best for you we would like this card to have at least one other league member on it.
This will be a points League where each round you will accumulate points based on how you finish compared to other players. Those points will be added up throughout the year and updated in our weekly standings. To make this league something that everyone can enjoy and be competitive in we will also be using a handicap system. The player's handicap is calculated by finding the average of the player's 5 most recent rounds and adjusting that average to the course par by a factor of 90%. A minimum of 3 rounds are required fora handicap to be calculated. (Player's average - par) x 90% = Handicap. The purpose of this format is an attempt to level the playing field amongst varying skill levels making League nights fun and competitive for everyone involved. You will gain one point for every person you are ahead of in the standings for the round. An extra point will be given to the hottest round of the night. We will do a weekly CTP and Longest Putt for 3 points each, and 5 points if you can manage to snag that elusive ace.
We plan to play even in the wind and the rain but will cancel if conditions are unsafe. Look for updates on this at the Warman disc golf Facebook page or on the UDisc app where you can find our league under events.
Speaking of the UDisc app, this is something you will need for this league. Apart from league play this app is an invaluable tool for disc golfers as it shows course layouts, track scores, shows disc golf events you can take part in and does just about anything else you can find useful on the course. This app is what we use keep track of our scores throughout the year. You will need to download the app, sign up and create a user. This can all be done for free although there is a pro subscription that comes with other options. You DO NOT need the pro option for league play. After you have created a user you can locate our league in the events tab and on the day of the event go to players and check in. If you forget to do this ahead of time that's no problem, someone else can check you in but you must have created a user on the app first. One person in every group must have the app on their phone and they will keep track of scores for their cardmates.
We will be playing 18 holes with the alternate layout for the back 9 and course rules for out of bounds will apply. Basically that means that water, paths and backyards are out of bounds but if you have any other questions we can talk about that before we play.
If you've been in this league before, we will have our year-end championship round similar to last year where groups will be divided based on their handicap rating. Prizes will be awarded to the winner of each card. On top of that the top 5 points finishers for the season will also be awarded a cash payout.
