League 20

Just in case people see this and not other stuff, a reminder that League 20 is being run by James Robinson and Dan Allen, and it starts tomorrow at Westchester! Get your money in to them if you want to play!

Week 10 - Westchester Lagoon

Reminder to get your cash in if you're playing Saturday! One last chance to catch Dan for #1 points in the league! And look at that ace pot!

Week 10 - Westchester Lagoon

Good turnout last week, with solid weather. Looks good again for Saturday - let's try and get to 45 people for the last league I'm going to run up here! Also let's get a freaking ace - we had just one ace last summer and none yet this winter despite playing at Westchester so much!

Week 9 was solid scoring conditions, and Murphy took full advantage, besting me by 2 strokes to take down A Pool with a bogey-free -11. Dave Griffin dominated B Pool, winning by 3 strokes.

Week 9 - Westchester Lagoon

Week 8 payouts are up - we're going to be at Westchester the next two weeks, and then it's going to be up to whomever is running leagues for the rest of the winter - Davis right now just has too much snow on the ground.

Also, a reminder that if you're a 2023 member, we have a grace period for January, but why not renew that membership now and get it done with? You can send me your $30 with league dues and I will get you signed up, or just go over to the tournament page and pay ... more

Payments for week 7 are out! Get your money in for week 8 - should be all the way up to -7 by the time we tee off! I'm going to be spotting on every hole, just to keep moving!

Week 8 - Westchester Lagoon

Well week 7 was "fun". Probably one of the more exhausting rounds of disc golf I've ever played. And I wouldn't blame Will, who lost THREE drives that (probably) landed in at least C2, if he never plays in the winter again. We'll see if we keep doing Davis this winter, but if it keeps dumping snow like this, it's starting to feel futile, and the sheer depth of the snow on the fairways is going to lead to more lost discs and 4-hour rounds. Might be better for everyon ... more

Week 7 - Davis Park Update

Thanks to Dan, 5 Blue is good to go! So we'll be playing 4, 5, 6, Blue both times, and everything else Red both times.

Week 7 - Davis Park

Pads have been shoveled - the layout tomorrow is going to be the same for both front and back 9: holes 4 and 6 will play from the Blues, and everything else from the Reds. If you're not sure, look at the PDGA live scoring, but it should be obvious because only one of the pads is shoveled in most cases.

Hole 5 blue is shoveled, but there's a tree leaning into the fairway. It is likely going to be easier to just clear 5 Red tomorrow, but if we can get the tree taken care of, we ... more

Week 7 - Davis Park

Thanks to the folks who showed up, and I presume, shoveled, Westchester last week - I had to pull out at the last second with a pretty bad cold, but 10 brave souls managed to bump the ace pot even higher.

I'll be out on Friday to see what we have in terms of Davis teepads - once again I'll make sure we have at least 9 to play from for Saturday, but somehow this winter is even more ridiculous than last winter, so it's starting to feel futile to try and get the full course up and playable. Of course if we get enough volunteers, anything is possible!

Week 6 - Westchester Lagoon

Week 5 payouts are up; get signed up for some hot Goon action on Saturday! Seems like we have even MORE snow on the way between now and then, so we'll do what we can with teepads. Remember to look at the PDGA live scoring page to confirm that hole 2 is/is not playing as an island. It probably will be!

Week 5 - Still Davis, 2X Reds

Week 5 is going to be just reds, 2X. Big thanks to Jeremy, and the club, for using and buying, respectively, an electric shovel. If you want to thank him even more, get out there a little early and help clean them up a little before the round - it sounds like there may still be some cleanup needed, and as Cameron Poe's mom used to say, "many hands make light work."

Week 5 - Davis Park update

Thanks to Dan Allen, who got out there today and confirmed conditions - we will be playing both Reds and Blues on Saturday, EXCEPT 3, where we'll just be playing Red twice. If you see this, try to tell everyone about the layout (it will also show up on your digital scorecards).

Of course that's the plan, and I'm seeing 5-8 inches of snow in the forecast suddenly, so...stay tuned.

Week 5 - Davis Park

Week 4 payouts are out! Week 5 will be at Davis...I'm not going to be there, so please get signed up early if possible.

It looks like there are a few inches of snow coming, so PLEASE take a broom with you if you're going out to play, and don't mash the snow into the teepads. If you can make some progress on getting them all cleared, that would also be great - I welcome comments below for an update on what still needs to be done. The ones that were salted need to be chipped and possibly re-salted. The ice that didn't completely melt froze again.

Jeremy Boyd   December 6 at 10:20pm

There's some work out there for sure. I'm going to try to do some Friday

Dan Allen   December 8 at 3:32am

I dumped ice melt on 6, 7, 9 blue and 8 red. If someone can brush them off Friday, then all pads will be playable for leagues (except for 3 blue)

Week 4 Recap

Great crowd out for week 4, 25 people! The teepads were almost unbelievably dry for early December, and it was merely "cold" not "bone-chilling".

Dan Allen grabbed the 16-person A Pool with a blistering -11, going bogey-free. He nudged out Seth Asing by one, who was the only other person who didn't register a bogey. Adding that island on hole 2 certainly has stopped me going bogey-free so far this winter.

Week 4 - Westchester Lagoon

Get signed up if you're coming tomorrow - Robinson and I are hopefully getting the teepads set today, and it should be sunny and not TOO cold. Huge ace pot! Lots of aceable holes!

I'm going to try and get that circle around 2 again; I think that's a neat feature, despite it biting me in the ass when I was going for a Goon PR a couple weeks ago.

Week 3 Recap

Thanks to everyone who came out for week 3! It was tight, but we got 9 playable teepads, and we started wearing in some paths. Thank you to the groups starting on holes 5 and 7 for working on the first two pads you played. I'm optimistic we can get all 18 of the pads cleared by week 5!

Conditions were still pretty rough - despite only playing a couple of the tougher holes (2 and 5 blues, IMO), everyone carded at least two bogeys. Beckner took down A Pool by mixing in 7 birdies, incl ... more

Week 3 - Davis Park

Get your money in if you're coming! The layout is still in flux - I'm going to try and get out there early and get at least the reds all salted, but 1, 2, 4, and 5 Blue at least have been shoveled, and if I can get them salted as well we'll be playing those. Otherwise probably just Reds 2X. Might want to bring ice cleats if you have 'em, just in case; right now there's some ice on all the pads.

Week 3 - Davis Park

OK for reals this time - normal winter league, no 20 inches of snow, payouts to top finishers, ace pot in effect, all the good stuff. Get your money in for Saturday. We'll probably just play Reds 2X but I'll see how much of the Blues we can clear before Saturday. Any help would be welcome!

Week 2 Results

Scores are up here, and on PDGA finally! Thanks for coming out to support a great cause last Saturday! We'll be back up - maybe at Westchester depending on how well we can clear Davis, paying out division winners and aces, this Saturday!

James Robinson   November 21 at 6:07pm

I checked out Davis yesterday. All short teepads have been shoveled along with long #7 and #9. A tree has fallen across #7s long pad, so it's not playable, but it is shoveled!

Joe Caissie   November 22 at 2:18am

Thanks for the update - I'll pop out there on Thursday or Friday to see about any cleanup I can do, but it sounds like we can at least play Reds.

Week 3 (2?) - Results

Hi, folks - If you want to see the scores from this week, head over to the Frozen Turkey tourney page. They WILL be posted here and on PDGA but there was an issue with the scheduling of the leagues on PDGA, so I'm going to have to enter the scores manually when that gets resolved. Hope everyone had fun and lost a minimum of fingers and toes yesterday!

Week 3 - Frozen Turkey at Westchester

Just a reminder that we're doing something special this week - entry fee is $20, a frozen turkey, or a spiral ham. If you're planning to come, let me know! If you're paying in cash and not meat, send me $20 just like you normally would.

Remember that this week is for charity, so there will be no payouts, INCLUDING for the ace pot. But we will be rated like normal!

Week 3 - Frozen Turkey and Winter League #19 IN THE SAME STUDIO

Special for Week 3 - we have Frozen Turkey this time every year, and instead of trying to do separate rounds, we're going to have Frozen Turkey sanctioned. There will be no payouts, including for aces, but we'll be giving a nice food and monetary donation to the St Francis Food Pantry. The encouraged donation is one Spiral Cut Ham or one Frozen Turkey - but if you want to do cash, the alternative is $20 (or more!). Let me know if you'll be coming, and if you're doing the cash option, pay in the normal way.

Week 2 - NOT HAPPENING

I'll see you all week 3 - I'll send refunds for this week for the folks who have paid.

Week 2 - Westchester Lagoon

I'm in sunny California but I hear y'all got some snow. Since we can get a full round in with just 9 baskets worth of clearing, we're playing Westchester this weekend. Well I'm playing Oak Grove, but y'all are playing Westchester. If you see this, please don't leave the shoveling to the 3-4 mostly MP40+ backs who have usually done the teepad clearing!

Week 2 - Davis Park

Keep an eye on the schedule - I just flip-flopped all the weeks because Westchester apparently isn't in yet. This week will be at Davis Park.

It'll be great if people can help with the shoveling - I'm going to get out there and do some today or tomorrow, but I'm out of town this weekend so someone else is going to have to get any fresh snow off the teepads.

Week 1 recap

Wow, we got that round in at Kincaid just in time! Thanks to the 14 folks who came out this week, always a lower attendance week 1 for some reason; but it was a solid crowd for a drizzly day.

A Pool, which had 10 of the 14 participants, was taken down by Brian, who shot 7 down. A new guy, not sure if he's just up for a visit or going to be a regular, took second with 6 down, and Dan Allen tied with me for third, with his round the only bogey-free one, 5 under. Week 1 Kincaid - last call

Hi, folks; looks like we have 4 cards at most, so I'm going to do tee times - if you want to go out early, like 10:30, that'd be great if we could get one group going then. You can let me know here, text me, or just show up and if you're ready to go, I'll send you out with the early group.

Week 1 Update

If anyone sees the tee times on PDGA, BE NOT AFRAID. If you're listed at 10:45 and can't make 10:45, that's fine. I'm going to try and send a couple groups out early (or late) so we can all start on hole 1 if possible. Kincaid can be a lot of walking. Do try to be there by 11 so we can do a shotgun if that's what we need to do.
