I have been working on getting a new disc golf course for Reston, VA. I meet with the Parks and Rec. Dept and they are going to consider it. Part of the process is investigating community support for the idea. Here is a google form that you can sign to support the idea. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSefBG2pQkqSCfvmIGGdALvKpMzIO8SWHymEj5q-vWUe5xRIXQ/viewform?usp=sf_link Please share with anyone. If you know anyone living in Reston, Reston residents are important for this idea. Thanks!!

Hi! I just started playing and it's a blast! I'm interested in learning proper techniques so I can throw further than 20 yards and stop hooking alllll the way left. Are there frisbee golf lessons in the NOVA area? If so, is there a season for them or are they year-round?
Sounds great - hope to see you out there. The pros are really great instructors...and by having three there - we will break down the crowd into groups to keep sizes a bit smaller and offer a little more one on one attention. Should be a solid experience. Just plan to enjoy yourself, and hopefully ... more
Agree with Kim that the best way to learn and get plugged into the community on the NOVA Disc Golf Association Facebook page.

Hey! Thanks for writing back. Yes I am a silly person who loves Adventure Time. I am 48. I am reliving my childhood watching cartoons with my 10 year old son. I can't be on Facebook due to the rabid controversial politics that happen there. I love disc golf, and do have a desire to improve. I practiced in an open field yesterday with some distance drivers. Average throw was 150 feet with an Infinite disc Aztec :
Speed: 10.0
Glide: 5.0
Turn: -1.0
Fade: 2.0
I am patient and ...

My other advice is that distance is both easier and harder than what you're doing now. Power comes from balance and weight shift in the legs, not from ripping with the arm. Good drills on YouTube include the One-Leg Drill and the Door Frame Drill. The instruction is dry, but the drills are invaluable to get you to feel what your lower body is supposed to be doing.
You might consider checking out Will Schusterick’s series of instructional videos at https://www.discgolfinstruction.com/
Thanks for all the good advice! I am ready to give up on distance, and start at the beginning, and learn proper technique that will get me there with time and patience. Agree with everything you all have said, especially that it is not in the arms. Whole body, and proper form and technique. I w ... more

Happy New year to all! Stay safe and healthy and keep throwing! Newbie here, at it since Covid started. I stink, I can't get a driver farther than 200 - 250 feet. Any experts or pros want to get paid for some lessons? Or let me hang with some more experienced players? Any ways, any interest let me know. Thanks!!!

The race for the West Virginia Cup is heating up with 5 Teams registered so far. Does your club or team have what it takes to get their name engraved permanently on the WV Cup as Champions? https://www.discgolfscene.com/tournaments/West_Virginia_Cup_2017

I plan on entering the doubles tournament in March and was curious what format it will be played? Best shot? Worst shot? Tough shot? Or another format. Would be helpful in planning for the tournament. Thank you in advance.
Believe the format will be first round Best Shot, second round Alternate Shot.
Thank you very much. I also wanted to know how I become a member of the NOVA DGA??
Membership is $20 for the year. PayPal to [email redacted]!
The club is looped in on this initial phase. Please do fill out the form in order to show your support.
Thank you for doing this!
